ok now i got a little question about postforward and that they dont have my router on that list i got a huawei e960 and i found a thing called "lan IP filter" and there are some stuff im not sure about but i think its where u have to enter the port codes:
Protocol: TCP ( u can chose between TCP UDP and ALL)
Lan IP addrses : ( type something )
Wan IP address : (again type something)
this was left side
right side is likely same but little diff :
Status: on/off
Lan port: (type)
WAN Port (type)
thats the info i can give and i hope someone can help me out
thx in advance
-Niko|||c'mon guys :(|||The basic idea of routing is simple.
A) Your house has multiple computersOkay - Here's the meaning of those settings: (follow the links)
B) Your router is the bridge to the internet
B1) The bridge has two addresses - 1 which your computers see, the other end which is seen by the people on the internet
C) Hosting games requires your computer's address be linked by "port forwarding" to the outside address of your router. It's really just a map telling your router where to send anyone trying to join your game.
- LAN IP refers to the computer that the game warcraft3 hosts.
- WAN IP refers to the address of your router as the internet knows it.
- TCP/UDP are internet directories (think highway signs or area codes...they do much more, but that is irrelevent).
- Ports are like road signs designed to get from the outside your router to your computer.
Specifics: To set up a computer to host generally you:
- Get your computer IP address
- Find your IP address as the internet knows it
- Find out which ports & TCP or UDP are needed
- Once you have the information written down from the previous 3 steps, you go to your router port forwarding section & fill it in
- Remember to set TCP/UDP to both or all
- Save the settings & restart the router (generally speaking this is required the first time)
BE WARNED - IP addresses can change every time your router or computer get turned off. Most of the time you are fine - but if suddenly you can't host again ... check the IP of your computer to see if it matches the port forwarding you setup. You can't do anything about the router changing (unless you want to pay extra to your internet company). Your computer you can set to use the same IP address each time it turns on (it requires more work & settings you have to get from your router - make sure you don't setup an IP address that the router gives out dynamically...I pick something like 192.168.1.225 or 10.0.0.225 myself).
With a tiny bit of effort on your part - you should be hosting inside 20-40 minutes if this is your first time trying.
