How did the Dark Portal get closed?

ages ago I read a World-of-Warcraft book and was reading "The Dark Portal" but now I have lost the book, and forgot how the portal got closed. I know that Turalyon and a few others went through it, which took them to 'now' The Blasted Lands.

The Blasted Lands (http://www.wowwiki.com/File:WorldMap-BlastedLands.jpg) are in Azeroth. When the expedition went beyond the Dark Portal, they arrived at the Hellfire Peninsula (http://www.wowwiki.com/File:Hellfirepenn.jpg) in Draenor, what is now Outland (http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/burni...utlandmap.html).

As to how it was closed, both at the end of the Second War and after the expedition crossed through, it was Khadgar who shut down the portal.
