Dota mechanics are far better than league in terms of juking, denying, and projectiles.

The only edge that league has over dota is the interface and graphics.

You play dota to kill players, you play league to kill creeps (not kidding). The more you kill players in league the more you are penalized and receive less gold for killing players. Players in league don't lose gold upon death and you receive very little XP for killing players. It is much easier to carry games in dota than league, in league you rely on your team a lot more.

My advice is don't waste your time with league unless you enjoy farming creeps all game and pushing lanes. Do your self a favour and wait for dota 2, even if it will be years until it comes out. I've played a fair amount of league (1K+ games) and just recently uninstalled it. The game its self is O.K, but the community is completely rubbish. The players that play league are not even comparable to dota players. Dota players are far more skilled and more intelligent than league players.

Keep in mind I haven't even played dota in over a year, the past year + I have been playing league, so I am not biased in any way. I have just simply seen these two games from both ends of the spectrum.
